Julie and I discovered Collete in Paris at the very famous bookstore, Shakespeare And Company.
Collete is a cute, thin and somewhat feisty little gal that freely roamed the area outside the bookstore. Her main job it appeared, was to profile approaching shoppers, and depending on some unknown sense, she would approve or disapprove. If it was the later, a series of barks would ring out and she would let it be known that you better "watch out".
She constantly moved around the area in front of the store which is alive with activity and noise, cars, people and tourists coming in and out of the store. With all this buzz, Collette never left a certain perimeter of the store. You could tell she has been in patrol there for quite some time.
Dogs with this instinct are hard to find, and if you do find one you better hang on to them. Often times they are strays or mutts, but they seem to have a unique sense about them, an almost super special power that other dogs don't posses.
